In 1984 Ron and Rhonda Erwin pioneered a new type of shopping in the small town of Madison, Georgia with their first store. As Madison grew so did the styles and tastes of its residents and visitors. 2009 marks the 25th anniversary of this retail establishment.
Madison, Georgia is a great town. In addition to Madison receiving the title of "Best Small Town in America", it also boasts one of the largest Historic Districts in the state and has fast become a shopping and dining mecca for those traveling Georgia's Antebellum Trail.
The Erwin's have restored many historic downtown structures as well as houses utilizing Ron's historic architectural preservation background. Instrumental in Madison's adoption of it's Preservation Ordinance in the 1980's, Ron Erwin is now an active realtor helping others buy historic homes, storefronts and farms in Madison, Morgan county and Georgia's Lake Oconee area.
Laughing Moon occupies one of the Main Street historic structures, the Belmont Hotel. (Comedian Oliver Hardy's mother once worked in this hotel and in the early 1990's was used in the movie "The Last Confederate Widow Tells All". The main floor is filled with fashion, jewelry, bags, shoes and Georgia-Made products. Hotel rooms upstairs are packed with treasures for guys, pets, kids, beach lovers, cooks and students.
